Introduction to Unreached People Groups in Burundi
As the Azusa Gospel campaign Team prepare for a mission trip to Burundi, we will like to share a topic that’s been on our heart: the Unreached People Groups (UPGs).
You might be asking, “What is a UPG?” A UPG is a community with no indigenous believers to evangelize their own people, and they have less than 2% evangelical Christians. A step beyond that is an Unengaged Unreached People Group (UUPG), which is a UPG with no known missionary or church-planting efforts at all.
While Burundi is a majority-Christian nation, there are still 5 distinct UPGs who have very little access to the Gospel. The number of people in these groups who could be lost without a witness is estimated to be over 55,000 souls. 💔
These people are not just numbers; they are individuals with names, families, and stories. The truth is, while many in Burundi have heard the name of Jesus, these specific communities are still waiting to hear the Good News.
Please join me in praying for them! God’s heart is for all people, and He wants every nation, tribe, and tongue to know him.
